Recently, Florida Panthers d-man Jay Bouwmeester was asked why his team traded to get Bryan McCabe from the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here’s what he said:
I have no idea. It’s not my business . . . you’re asking the wrong guy…”
What Bouwmeester may not be admitting is that the general speculation is that McCabe is Bouwmeester’s replacement once Jay finds less sucky greener pastures elsewhere once his one-year contract expires at the end of this season. We’re not sure who is speculating this, but it is safe to say that it is someone with a head up their ass. Comparing Bouwmeester to McCabe is like comparing Roseanne Barr to Adriana Lima. Sure, you can tap both of them, but one will induce a lot less vomitting and humiliation.
On second thought, this is Florida we’re talking about, so maybe GM Jacques Martin has a special formula to motivate players above their skill level. Right Jay?

Oops. Looks like it’s good for the “guy.” Not so much for the team. Same ol’ Florida Panthers. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Same old Panthers? WTF? That sounds to me like more of McCabe’s tired old bullshit… The dude loved playing in Toronto because they’re treated like gods and have zero accountibility for their effort levels. At least, that’s what I’ve heard… Why else were the Muskoka 5 so unwilling to waive their NTCs at the deadline last year? Sundin is the only one who could actually be ascribed a “loyalty” tag, while the others were quite clearly COMFY.
Go rot in Florida McCabe. Hope you’ve invested wisely, as clearly your career won’t be long if you continue your present decline…
