Radulov Could Care Less

The Nashville Predators officially suspended Alexander Radulov a couple of days ago.  The suspension is indefinite and is unpaid. Duh. For those unfamiliar with the story, Radulov bolted from Nashville with a year left on his contract and joined the new KHL league in Russia. He wanted to be home, and they’re paying ridiculous salaries there to lure disgruntled players away from the NHL.

Say the Preds:

“We are disappointed Alex will not be with the Predators at the start of this season,” said Poile. “He is a world class player who demonstrated last season, with 26 goals and 58 points, that he is an emerging NHL talent. However, since he has not responded to our recent correspondence, we must move forward with our plans for the coming season.

The suspension and hoopla this is causing in the NHL must not even register on Radulov’s care-meter.. He’s getting to play back home, and will likely earn a crap-load more money than he was in Nashville. Imagine that, a young Russian wanting out no part of the Grand Ol’Opry…. who’d a thunk it?

    1) From reading the wording of that statement it sounds like nashville is leaving the door open for him to return.
    2) Guys like he and Yashin, who have left while still having valid contracts, should get banned for life! When that league run by corrupt oil barrons/politicians/crooks implodes we wonder what will happen then?

I think the fact that many a European has walked away from existing contracts overseas makes this a moot point.

The Preds don’t actually want HIM back, they want a tradeable asset back. There’s no way that they can mend this relationship…

I applaud Radulov for sticking to his guns, and for not letting himself be intimidated by the innuendo and rhetoric from the IIHF and NHL…

Sheesh…what an ignorant statement. This has nothing to do with not wanting to play in Nashville. Rads was adored here. To a man, everyone who has played for this organization has loved their experience here (and I dare you to give me a quote that proves otherwise).

What this is about is an immature kid who grew up playing alongside his friend Evgeni Malkin and saw the contract that he recently got and percieved he was being slighted for not getting the same money from the Preds. Fact is he never even gave them a chance to give him the raise he would have probably received this season had he just played. If not he could have walked and nobody would have a problem. He’s listened to some BAD advice from people who care nothing about the precedent he setting here, which will now haunt him the rest of his pro career. In turn it takes a pretty immature person to try and use this sad news to diss Nashville, which has done absolutely nothing wrong throughout this entire affair. Grow up, dude.
