The last team in the NHL that needed to fill the position of head coach did just that yesterday evening. After a “thorough” search of all available candidates, New York Islanders GM Garth Snow hired former AHL Providence coach Scott Gordon. Now Gordon has a pretty good track record. He’s a respected hockey-man who won AHL coach of the year last year while compiling a 55-18-3 record.

Scott Gordon really stood out.”
For further clarification I asked Snow if he was saying that when compared Gordon was actually found to be more qualified than Ted Nolan, Paul Maurice, John Tortorella, Bob Hartley, Marc Crawford, and Joel Quenneville.
“Wellllll… In the end it really came down the swimsuit competition and… Let’s just say that’s where the Wanger and I really saw Scotty’s “assets” shine through. If you know what I’m—”
Please stop.
