Panthers Finally Have Reason to Smile

One of last season’s most memorable moments (for all the wrong reasons) was Richard Zednik’s accident in Buffalo that nearly saw him die after having his throat slashed by a teammate’s skate blade. Although it was pretty shocking at the moment, we soon knew Zeddy would be alright and that he would play hockey once again. Well, it looks like that day is fast approaching.
Reports On Frozen Pond:
JM (Jacques Martin) says he’s spoken to both Richard Zednik and trainer David Zenobi and the reports are Zednik is doing a lot of physical work and is expected to be in good shape when training camp kicks off. Zednik has been skating, and JM says the team is expecting a good season out of the veteran.
Glad to see Zeddie coming back after such a close shave. That kind of tenacity shows he’s a cut above the rest….
Anyone? Anyyone?… No?
Come on! I’m pretty sure we can laugh about it now. Here, let me go through the list:
- Was it a genuine accident? Check.
- Is he OK Now? Check.
- Has it been at least six months? (I don’t know - I’m too lazy to) Check.
OK, so those two lines were officially not inappropriate. They were officially not funny, too but at least they were not inappropriate.
See, inappropriate would have been Olli Jokinen getting up after the accident and shouting, “THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!”

I still am not sure what that stupid team has to smile about, but good on Zednik for making a recovery…
