Rumor of the Day

This weekend, the Where Will Mats Go? sweepstakes either had a whole lot of development or none at all depending on who you ask.
A Swedish newspaper reported that Mats Sundin had turned down a contract to play in the KHL (that new Russian leagues that’s gots lotsa money) because Sundin had already signed with Vancouver. The shockwaves crossed the Atlantic and everyone on this side of the ocean went apeshit. Really apeshit.
Sundin’s rep in Sweden has deemed the story “completely false.”
The bottom line on this is that Mats is going to do exactly what he wants to when he wants to. He doesn’t need to sign anywhere so why rush it? If he does sing with Vancouver or Montreal or Moose Jaw at least he knows when he moves to the city his furniture will be trendy and easy to assemble.
OK, that was admittedly crap but this story is boring as shit. And that’s “completely true”.

I sincerely hope Sundin retires… This is getting retarded…

1) Can’t imagine Matts will retire. No, he doesn’t need the money, but unless he has a family issue, what else does he plan to do?
2) Vancouver seems to be the logical fit: Why?
a) Matts is on record saying he likes playing in Canada
b) They are offering(supposedly) a nice 2 year 20 mil deal?
c) Matts appears to not care if he wins(he won’t in vancouver)
d) The olympics are there next year so would be nice to play for the home town team where the games are being played.

@ Faux - Mats has said that he doesn’t anticipate playing in the 2010 Olympics, so I think the value-added tag has been misrepresented… At least he’d be on hand to WATCH the Olympics, I guess…
