So where the heck is Marcus Naslund going to end up next season anyway? The new GM might influence him one way or another, but a bigger part of his decision lies in the fate of coach Alain Vigneault who is no sure bet to return.
Reports the Vancouver Province:
“If the winger is willing to take a pay cut from the $6 million US he earned in each of the last three seasons, you can debate his return would make sense.
Then again, that will also depend on if coach Alain Vigneault is retained and if the stifling system is re-tooled.
“You want to look at what kind of team it’s going to be and what role will they want from me — if I were to come back,” Naslund said Wednesday…”
I’m sure with the GM also being Naslund’s agent they be able to find some way to make that paycut comfortable…
On the other hand, we haven’t had a coach firing in about two days so I think we’re due.

While still likely useful in the NHL, Naslund is definitely on the decline. I’d say a change of scenery would be a good idea, even if it’s just to put him in a less prominent position with another team. There’s no way he’s going to carry Vancouver anymore, twins or no twins…
