Rumor of the Day

Just as the Flyers began their third round matchup, Philadelphia management was all set to resign late-season acquisition Vinny Prospal. After showing what he was capable of in the first round series against the Washingto Capitals, GM Paul Holmgren went on record saying:
“I’ll say it,” Holmgren said at the time. “We are interested in signing Vinny.”
So now, as the Flyers hang by a thread, trailing the Penguins 3-0 in the series, Prospal only has 5 assists and is a minus - 6 in his last 9 games. What’s Holmgren saying now?
“… “
Right.
Says the Courier Post:
Unless he turns things around quickly, Prospal’s chances of returning to the Flyers next season will be remote.
“Vinny’s a great passer with great vision with the puck, but if he gets standing still and not moving his feet, he seems to get checked too easily,” Flyers coach John Stevens said. “I thought that was the case (in Game 1).
“When he’s moving his feet, when he’s jumping off the walls and getting to the goal, more things happen for him. I thought he got a little bit away from that Friday.”
Vinny, Vinny, Vinny… As any Leaf’ll tell you: First you sign the contract, then you slack off. (It might be too late but try to get one of those “no trade thingies” in there too.)
Are we shitting on the Leafs too much lately? Hmmmm, maybe… Still, I’m standing here with my rifle next to this barrel and they keep putting the damn fish in it – shit happens, is all I’m saying…
