Nolan Happy on the Island

And by happy, we mean can’t wait to get the fuck out. Speaking with reporters while attending an awards banquet in small-town Ontario, Nolan didn’t sound too optimistic about staying on with the Islanders past next season.
Says The Sault Star:
“It’s a tough situation,” Nolan said… “But I’ve faced a lot of tough situations before. I just want to go into next season, concentrate on fulfilling my contract, do a great job and make sure I get another contract somewhere.”
Somewhere?
Does that mean Nolan has all but given up on coaching the Isles past next season?
[Nolan] says the Islanders haven’t approached him about a contract extension, nor does he have any plans to discuss the topic with team owner Charles Wang.
“I’m not looking to renegotiate and it wasn’t brought up (to me),” said Nolan
Nolan’s probably better off someplace else anyway - I heard somewhere Wang’s latest obsession is something about “finding a Chinese bride with green eyes”, whatever that means…

1) Nolan and anyone else for that matter can see the hand writing on the wall; The Islanders plan on sucking next season, and have a low payroll under the guise of “playing the kids.”
2) Nolan will be the sacrificial lamb and be blamed for not being able to work with the kids, or not be a team player in Wang’s wacky knight of the round table mentality. Nolan is probably counting down the days until he can get his ‘contractual obligation’ done and can move on. Clearly he is a good coach. Now he needs to find a real organization!
