Chicago Ice Crew: Winners 2008

As promised, here is a more fitting tribute to Puck That Hit’s contest winners for Hottest Ice Girls of 2008: The Chicago Ice Crew.

Although the Chicago Blackhawks didn’t make the playoffs, the team has made amazing strides this season. Not the least of which is having its Ice Crew finish first in a worldwide vote to determine who had the hottest crew (see the final scores here).

Puck That Hit caught up with the Ice Crew soon after their win and had a chance to ask them about the contest, their roles, and how it has changed their lives.

Here’s what they had to say:

Puck That Hit: You’ve been named Puck That Hit’s Hottest Ice Girls 2008, how will this change your lives? Do friends/family treat you different?

Ice Crew: It is truly an honor. We will keep a printout of your website in our purses at all times for emergency purposes. We strongly believe it will be a life-saver in extreme situations.

Full interview and a bunch more pics after the jump…

PTH: Do you find food tastes better now?

IC: Champagne seems to taste extra bubbly with the new title.

PTH: Can you now skip ahead of lines when you go to clubs ?

IC: No, we wait in line like everyone else. Not!!

PTH: The Carolina Storm Squad finished a strong 2nd. Who would win if you laced them up and played them 4-on-4?

IC: Clearly the Hawks crew. We are confident we could shut out the Carolina Storm Squad in a friendly match-up! We’ve got a lot of talent on the crew.

PTH: Have you ever had to “drop the gloves” in real life? If Yes, please describe the scenario in slow motion. Uhmmm… nevermind.

IC: We’ve got each others backs- and we’d drop the gloves if need be!

PTH: Did any players vote for the Crew?

IC: I think the Carolina players actually voted for us (laughs). We created a big buzz around the United Center. Of course they voted for the crew!

PTH: Which Blackhawk would make the best Ice Crew member, and why?

IC: Some of us think [Martin] Havlat. Some think [Patrick] Sharp because they seem like they would take longer to get ready than us.

PTH: Your numbers destroyed the competition - What sort of steps did you take to rally the fans for the poll?

IC: Since we have the greatest fans in the NHL it didn’t seem too big of a surprise that they came together and voted for us! We’ve had a lot of publicity the last few weeks which definitely helped promote the competition for Puck that Hit’s Hottest Ice Girls 2008. We were on TV, radio and newspapers. We also handed out our postcards with your website on them and told our blog friends to vote.

PTH: If you could vote for another team’s Ice Girls, who would it be?

IC: Our runner up - The Storm Squad. They seem like a nice and wholesome group of girls. We also like the Dallas girls.

PTH: Who’s sexier, hockey players or hockey bloggers?

IC: For sure the bloggers.

PTH halts the interview, composes themselves and attempts to carry on…

PTH: Ummmm…. in closing, do you have any words you would like to say to Puck That Hit readers (AKA: the sexiest readers on the Internet)?

IC: Thank you for all the votes and support! We stayed strong throughout the whole poll and it was all because of our fans and readers! We look forward to upholding the title of puckthathit.com’s Hottest Ice Girls for 2008. See you all at the United Center!

    LOL.

Congrats to the Chicago Ice Crew. There was no question on my mind they were going to win it all.
