Leia in Gold Bikini Hotness

In an effort to keep you both informed and amused, Puck That Hit has compiled a list we’re certain has never been done. Using equal parts hockey savvy and sci-fi geekiness, we’ve listed the NHL head coaches from all 30 teams and assigned them a Star Wars character based on their record, history, talent, and — of course — personality.

See all 30 coaches after the jump!

Wedge Antilles

RandyCarlyle
Here’s the guy that does all the grunt work only to see someone else (Brian Burke) take the glory.

movie_jarjar.jpg

Jar Jar Binks

atl1.gifDon Waddell
A loser on every level. His demise is wished universally.

movie_r2d2.jpg

R2-D2

bos1.gifClaude Julien
No matter what feats this guy pulls off, this guy never gets respect. Sports a shiny dome.

movie_solo.jpg

Han Solo

buf.gifLindy Ruff
Luck is always on his side. Often appears defenseless… never tell him the odds.

movie_vader.jpg

Darth Vader

cgy1.gifMike Keenan
Inspires fear, and sometimes gets results. Rumor has it he’s a big softy inside.

eu_oldluke.jpg

Jedi Luke Skywalker

car1.gifPeter Laviolette
Has won it all, but has fallen into ineffectiveness later in career.

movie_ewok.jpg

Wicket, the Ewok

chi1.gifDenis Savard
Small, feisty, up for a fight, but just not hero material.

movie_ki-adi-mundi.jpg

Ki-Adi-Mundi

col1.gifJoel Quenneville
Of good coaching stock, has tasted victory, is respected, but very much under the radar. Rarely without his trademark moustache.

movie_nien.jpg

Nien Nunb

cls1.gifKen Hitchcock
Was in the right place at the right time (Dallas/with Lando in the Falcon) when their defining moment occurred. Not done a hell of a lot since.

movie_gg.jpg

General Grievous

dal1.gifDaveTippett
What’s the opposite of a good motivator? Has one last chance to do a good job.

movie_youngobi.jpg

Young Obi Wan

det.gifMikeBabcock
Shows great promise, but hasn’t yet proven himself.

movie_lando.jpg

Lando

edm.gifCraig MacTavish
Has had lots of past success, charming and charismatic, yet with a temper.

moisture.jpg

Moisture Vaporator

fla1.gifJacques Martin
Emotionless, uninventive, complete lack of creativity. Found in warm climates.

old-obi.jpg

Older Ben Kenobi

los1.gifMarc Crawford
Has proven himself at the highest levels, but is now in purgatory for some reason.

movie_itsatrap.jpg

Admiral Ackbar

min.gifJacques Lemaire
Has battle scars and many conquests, but his grumpiness is upsetting the next generation.
Note: It’s a trap!!

movie_jango.jpg

Jango Fett

mon.gifGuy Carbonneau
A once proud warrior that is desperately trying to recreate old glories.

solo_carbo.jpg

Carbonite Solo

nsh1.gifBarry Trotz
A veritable fixture that has done little more than a hatrack.

movie_luke.jpg

Young Luke

njd1.gifBrent Sutter
Comes from excellent stock, but is still very much unproven.

movie_qui.jpg

Qui Gon Jin

nyi1.gifTed Nolan
Talented and an excellent motivator. Often misunderstood by higher-ups.

movie2_nute.jpg

Nute Gunray

nyr.gifRenney, Tom
A model of consistent failure. Has always had the right tools to get the job done, but fucks it up.

movie_palp.jpg

Emperor Palpatine

ott.gifBrian Murray
If you want something done properly, do it yourself. Hates young, cocky upstarts.

movie_anak-kid.jpg

Young Anakin

phi1.gifJohn Stevens
A real rookie. Untested and unknown.

movie_boba.jpg

Boba Fett

pho1.gifWayne Gretzky
Hasn’t actually done a hell of a lot but he’s a goddamn legend.

movie_sm.jpg

Watto

pit.gifMichel Therrien
Disgruntled, irritable and hasn’t accomplished shit. Unpleasant to look at.

movie2_clone.jpg

Clone Trooper

san1.gifRon Wilson
Doesn’t know what he’s doing but he looks like a coach so no one notices.

threepio.jpg

C3-PO

stl.gifAndy Murray
Entrusted with some of the most difficult tasks despite a near constant string of failures.

movie7_thumb.jpg

Older Anakin

tam1.gifJohn Tortorella
Has shown himself powerful but is now letting his anger get the best of him.

movie_bib.jpg

Bib Fortuna

tor.gifPaul Maurice
Weak-minded yes-man to higher powers (MLSE). Unable to inspire. Lives at his master’s whim.

greedo.jpg

Greedo

van1.gifAlain Vigneault
Is confident, and has a long list of excuses, but has never produced shit.

movie_chewie.jpg

Chewbacca

was.gifBruce Boudreau
Friendly, quick to praise, but nasty temper. Hangs out with the hottest star.

movie_yoda.jpg

Yoda

Honorable Mention:
Scotty Bowman

Knows what he’s talking about, revered everywhere by everyone.

  4. mugsy

Brilliant! I’m pretty sure Bowman plays for the Dark side though… a better Darth or emperor. Lando might better fit Quenville, always fired up and overconfident with his decisions and all powerful stache.

Two of my favorite things in one shot!! Star Wars and hockey!!! And my hometown coach is compared to my on of my favorite characters. Gretzky and Boba Fett, well it’s true on most accounts.
